ALEXANDRA HÖJER & METRO= HANDMADE CLOTHING CO. is an independent clothing store with two labels. ALEXANDRA HÖJER is womenswear. METRO= HANDMADE is menswear. Everything we make is handmade, in small runs, from natural fabrics, designed and produced by the founders. We have been in Cape Town for over twenty years. Our Lisbon store opened in October 2025 and we are building the team that will carry it forward.
We are hiring across three levels. Whether you are an experienced floor seller looking for the right environment, or someone ready to lead a small team and take full ownership of a store, we want to hear from you.
This is a selling environment first. We work with natural fabrics, considered silhouettes and handmade pieces designed with a specific point of view. The way we talk about what we make is central to how we sell. Every person who walks through the door is an opportunity for a genuine conversation, and the right candidate closes well because they truly believe in what they are selling.
We are looking for people who read a room the moment they walk into it, connect with clients naturally and personally, and take pride in the space and the experience every single day.
Absolute fluency in Portuguese and English, spoken and written, is essential at every level.
The roles
Part Time Retail Assistant. Four days per week, five hours per shift. You are a strong floor seller with experience in premium or independent retail. You work with energy and initiative, build genuine client relationships and perform consistently without supervision.
Senior Retail Assistant, full time. Five days per week, standard store hours. You bring proven retail experience, a strong personal sales record and the ability to take full ownership of the floor. You read clients well, style with confidence, close consistently and take pride in the space and the experience every single day.
Store Manager, full time. You are a seller first and a manager second. Your best work happens on the floor, in front of clients, and the team learns how to sell by watching you every day. You have a proven personal sales record in premium or design led retail, you close with conviction, and you build lasting client relationships through genuine knowledge and care. You also hold full responsibility for the store: the numbers, the team, the space and the experience. You report clearly to the founders, manage scheduling and operations, and maintain the visual identity of the space with the same standards you bring to every client interaction. Leading a team means setting the bar on the floor every single day.
What we are looking for across all roles
Proven experience in premium, independent or design led retail. Exceptional personal sales ability and genuine enthusiasm for product storytelling. Absolute fluency in Portuguese and English. The drive to perform consistently. Legal right to work in Portugal.
