This is a selling role first. We are looking for a proven retail leader whose best work happens on the floor.
ALEXANDRA HÖJER & METRO= HANDMADE CLOTHING CO. is an independent clothing brand with stores in Lisbon and Cape Town. We have been based in Cape Town for over twenty years. Our Lisbon store on Rua de São Bento opened in October 2025 and we are looking for the right person to lead it.
Someone who connects with people easily and genuinely, who loves styling and selling and brings proven experience to both. The kind of person who reads a room the moment they walk into it and knows exactly what to do next. Deep product knowledge is central to how we sell, and the right person speaks about quality, fit and how something is made with real conviction. Every person who walks through the door is an opportunity for a genuine conversation, and closing well comes from truly believing in what you are selling.
Beyond the floor, this person builds lasting client relationships, maintains a client book with care and leads a small team with clarity and warmth, holding full responsibility for the space, the numbers and the experience without needing to be asked.
Key responsibilities
· Selling with conviction and leading by example on the floor every day.
· Owning the client experience from arrival through styling, product storytelling and closing.
· Building and maintaining a client book and nurturing relationships between visits.
· Leading and developing a small team with consistency and care.
· Holding the visual identity of the space including window displays, floor layout and seasonal presentation.
· Managing scheduling, opening and closing procedures, stock care and stockroom order.
· Reporting clearly to the founders and feeding back client and sales insight.
· Coordinating with our Cape Town store on operational and administrative matters.
What we are looking for
· Proven experience leading a retail team in a premium or design-led environment.
· An exceptional personal sales track record and the ability to develop that in others.
· Absolute fluency in both English and Portuguese, spoken and written, is essential.
· Full operational ownership with no need for prompting.
· A long term mindset and genuine alignment with the brand.
· Legal right to work in Portugal.
Hours and structure
· Full time position.
· Five days per week.
· Standard store hours 10:45 to 19:00.
· Weekly hours aligned with the 40 hour working week.
Position
Full time, based in Lisbon. Salary and commission structure aligned with experience and discussed at interview. Long term commitment essential.
