We're looking for a Backend Developer with strong Java and Spring Boot experience to join our engineering team.
You'll work on a large-scale cybersecurity SaaS platform, building new product capabilities, developing cloud integrations, improving platform reliability, and solving complex engineering challenges that directly impact enterprise customers worldwide.
This role is based in our Lisbon office in a hybrid format. If you are not currently in Portugal, we are open to remote work during the trial period, with relocation to Lisbon afterward.
You'll be working on a distributed backend platform built around a service-based architecture with 30+ independently deployable services.
Our backend ecosystem includes:
- Java 19 & Spring Boot
- Service-based architecture (30+ services)
- Eureka Service Registry
- REST APIs with OpenFeign
- RabbitMQ for asynchronous communication
- PostgreSQL
- Shared databases for selected services
You'll work on backend services powering SpinOne, including:
- Backup & Recovery functionality
- Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Salesforce and Slack integrations
- Enterprise access control and permissions
- Audit logs and administration features
- Data synchronization and processing pipelines
- High-volume asynchronous workflows
- Cloud storage integrations
Some of the upcoming engineering challenges include:
- Building a new Google Directory Backup integration
- Designing scalable data storage for Google APIs
- Developing backup and restore processes
- Supporting migrations to new third-party APIs (e.g. Microsoft Graph)
- Making integrations resilient to API limitations, retries and partial failures
After the onboarding period, you'll own features throughout their entire lifecycle.
This includes:
- analyzing business requirements and identifying missing scenarios
- discussing requirements with Product Owners
- participating in technical planning and estimation
- designing technical solutions together with the team
- implementing features
- writing and maintaining tests
- participating in code reviews
- fixing QA findings
- supporting releases
- monitoring production after release
- investigating production issues and customer-reported defects
Our engineers are expected to take ownership, proactively suggest improvements, and actively participate in technical discussions.
- 4+ years of commercial backend development experience.
- Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience with Java 19.
- Experience with MyBatis.
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL.
- Confident SQL skills.
- Experience analyzing and optimizing query execution plans.
- Understanding of indexes and database performance basics.
- Experience with RabbitMQ or similar message brokers.
- Experience with REST API development and integration.
- Ability to work with complex product logic and enterprise-level workflows.
- Good communication skills and ownership mindset.
- English: Intermediate+.
