About the Role
MSC Cruises is seeking an Assistant Refrigeration Technician to join our onboard engineering team. You will assist in the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of refrigeration and air conditioning systems across the vessel. This is an excellent opportunity to start or advance your career in marine refrigeration aboard modern cruise ships.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the maintenance, repair, and diagnostics of refrigeration and HVAC equipment onboard
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on refrigeration units
- Monitor the operation of compressors, pumps, and auxiliary equipment
- Participate in troubleshooting and repair of refrigeration and ventilation systems
- Comply with all safety regulations and shipboard standards
- Maintain technical documentation and reports as required
- Ensure all equipment remains in proper working condition
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration systems
- Strong understanding of the refrigeration cycle, cooling systems, and chiller systems
- Familiarity with compressor types and practical experience using a manifold gauge set
- Basic electrical knowledge
- Ability to read electrical schematics and understand relays, capacitors, resistors, and other electrical components
- Ability to perform electric motor bearing replacements
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures when working in potentially hazardous areas
- English language skills sufficient to work in an international crew environment
- Good physical condition
- Responsible, disciplined, and team-oriented
- No bad habits
