Propagation Technician

About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Propagation Technician to join our cultivation team, supporting the earliest and most critical stages of plant development. You will play a key role in producing healthy, uniform, and vigorous young plants - forming the foundation of our entire production cycle.
From cloning and germination to the long-term care of mother plants, you will ensure consistent quality, compliance, and growth. You will also work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable cultivation outcomes while maintaining the highest industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
Propagation & Cloning
Execute all propagation activities including taking cuttings, applying rooting treatments, and managing seed germination - maintaining high success rates and genetic consistency.
Mother Plant Care
Maintain the health, vigor, and productivity of mother plants, ensuring a reliable supply of high-quality material to meet ongoing production demands.
Environmental & Irrigation Management
Monitor and adjust temperature, humidity, lighting, and irrigation to create optimal growing conditions. Coordinate closely with the irrigation team to ensure protocols are consistently followed.
Plant Health & Biosecurity
Conduct regular health inspections, support Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs, and assist with pathogen and virus screening to protect stock health.
Compliance & Record-Keeping
Document all activities accurately - including batch tracking, growth data, inventory, and maintenance logs - ensuring full data integrity and adherence to regulatory requirements.
Sanitation & Continuous Improvement
Maintain strict hygiene and cleanliness standards across propagation areas. Stay informed on industry best practices and contribute ideas to improve processes, efficiency, and plant performance.
Collaboration & Planning
Align planting schedules with production targets, share knowledge across teams, and support the wider cultivation operation to achieve shared goals.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications
- A degree or certification in Horticulture, Agriculture, or Plant Propagation is essential.
Experience & Knowledge
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience in agriculture; experience specifically in plant propagation or the cannabis industry is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with propagation techniques, cultivation practices, and irrigation systems is considered a strong asset.
Skills & Attributes
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to spot and resolve plant health issues early.
- Able to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office for record-keeping, planning, and data entry.
- Happy to combine hands-on greenhouse work with administrative duties as required.
