Natixis in Portugal is currently seeking a Senior Developer to join its Payments team, within the IT department.
Main responsibilities:
Create designs for software applications that meet specified requirements;
Analyze requirements, identify appropriate architectural patterns and establish development blueprints;
Write code to implement software applications based on the defined design;
Use appropriate programming languages, frameworks and libraries to build scalable and functional applications;
Conduct tests to ensure the functionality, reliability and quality of software applications;
Develop and execute test cases, perform testing and analyze test results;
Identify and resolve software defects and issues through error log analysis, debugging tools and troubleshooting techniques;
Create technical documentation, user guides and API documentation;
Identify root causes and apply problem-solving techniques to resolve software issues and improve efficiency;
Work closely with the team, project managers and business analysts to understand requirements and clarify objectives;
Keep up to date with industry and best practice trends, using insights to implement new processes and initiatives;
Actively engage in and apply development methodologies to support successful delivery and continuous improvement.
Hard skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field;
Master’s degree, valued;
5+ years of experience in software development, with strong focus on backend technologies and architecture;
Experience in the payments or financial services industry, preferred;
Proficiency in Java, preferably versions 17 or 21, with Java 21 preferred;
Hands-on experience developing scalable applications;
Knowledge of Spring Boot Framework, versions 3.4.x or 3.5;
Good understanding of Angular 21 or close versions;
Knowledge of Kafka and Spring Batch;
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as OpenShift, AWS or Azure;
Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes;
Strong understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture;
Knowledge of best practices in software development;
Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools such as JIRA and Confluence, preferred;
Proficiency in English, minimum B2 level, mandatory;
Proficiency in French, highly valued.
