We're looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer to join our global remote team and contribute to building business-critical platforms for a leading global financial market infrastructure provider. In this role, you will be involved throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis to production deployment. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex systems using modern Java and Python technologies, cloud-native principles, and best practices in security and performance optimization.
Responsibilities

Develop scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot
- Build and maintain features in Python and Django where required
- Participate in requirements analysis, solution design, and effort estimation
- Write clean, maintainable, and secure code following object-oriented design and clean code principles
- Design and optimize relational database schemas and queries (PostgreSQL/MySQL)
- Implement unit and integration tests to ensure high-quality deliverables (JUnit, Mockito)
- Support CI/CD pipeline integration with GitLab and monitor application reliability using observability tools
- Troubleshoot production issues and maintain performance and reliability standards
- Collaborate with architects, developers, product owners, and cybersecurity experts to deliver aligned technical solutions
- Apply secure coding best practices, including OWASP Top 10 compliance, and manage authentication/authorization protocols (OAuth2, JWT, RBAC, SSO)
Requirements

5+ years of experience in professional software engineering with Java and backend development
- Strong hands-on experience with Java frameworks such as Spring Boot and Spring Data JPA/Hibernate
- Practical experience in Python and Django framework
- Proficiency in designing scalable architecture and developing RESTful APIs
- Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL), schema design, and query optimization
- Strong knowledge of Git/GitLab, CI/CD workflows, and version control best practices
- Experience with secure software development practices and cybersecurity fundamentals
- Familiarity with application observability tools such as Datadog (or equivalent)
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Strong communication skills and English proficiency (B2 level or higher)
Nice to have

Experience with AWS or Azure and container orchestration using Docker/Kubernetes
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Experience integrating security tools (Semgrep, SonarQube, BlackDuck, Trivy) into CI/CD pipelines
- Exposure to system design, architecture discussions, and performance improvements
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals (HTTP, TLS, DNS)
- Previous experience mentoring developers or contributing to technical leadership activities
