Job Description
MISSION
-
Design, administer, maintain, secure and optimize enterprise backup and recovery platforms that support multiple customers in a 24/7 production environment.

Act as the Backup technical reference with a strong focus on Commvault and a smaller focus on Tivoli Backup / IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) ensuring reliable backup, restore, disaster recovery and SLA compliance.

Provide advanced backup and recovery support, prepare controlled changes, execute restore activities, coordinate disaster recovery tests and assist application, system, database, storage, SAN and security teams during incidents and production interventions.
CONTEXT

Shared production / service center team serving multiple customers (mid-sized companies, large enterprises, public/private sector).

Backup and recovery landscape including Commvault as the primary backup platform, Tivoli Backup / IBM TSM as a smaller-focus legacy or adjacent platform, HP StoreEver MSL 6480 tape libraries, Dell EMC Data Domain VTLs, Brocade SAN fabrics and NetApp storage.

Highly industrialized environment, ITIL-oriented, with monitoring, ticketing, automation, reporting, backup policies, recovery procedures and SLA follow-up.

Close collaboration with system, storage, SAN, database, virtualization, application, network, security and service management teams.

Recovery is central to the role: backups are only considered successful when restore capability, recovery evidence, disaster recovery procedures and SLA targets are demonstrably under control.

Knowledge about cloud backup services or SaaS backup integration is considered a plus where customer environments evolve in that direction.
MAIN ACTIVITIES

Design backup & recovery solutions (Commvault, Tivoli/TSM)

Manage and troubleshoot L3 backup environments (backup, restore, storage, SAN)

Ensure SLA, RPO/RTO and disaster recovery readiness

Optimize performance, capacity and backup policies

Lead changes, deployments and technical documentation

Support critical incidents, on-call and recovery scenarios

Drive automation, security and continuous improvement

Mentor teams and act as Backup SME
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
5 to 10+ years of experience in backup, recovery, storage or infrastructure operations in production support environments.
-
Significant experience with Commvault administration is expected; Tivoli Backup / IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) / IBM Spectrum Protect knowledge is a plus or smaller-focus requirement depending on customer scope.

Experience in a multi-customer environment (MSP, outsourcing, hosting provider, operator) is highly appreciated.

Fluent in English; technical English required to communicate with colleagues - (Dutch and/or French is a plus)
- Able to work closely with system, storage, SAN, DBA, virtualization, application, network and security teams, manage priorities and perform under production support conditions.
