About the role
At Manie, we're changing the way people deal with energy - automating provider switching and helping every user always get the best tariff, effortlessly.
After building strong traction in Portugal - 300,000+ simulations, 130,000+ switches, AutoSwitch live as a subscription, and our first acquisition (Payper) closed - we're now scaling into new countries (Spain this year, UK in 2028) and new verticals (Telco in 2027, Insurance in 2028).
We're hiring a Head of Growth to design and run the engine that takes us there - across every channel, every market, every vertical. You'll work side by side with the founders, own the full acquisition + retention strategy, and build the growth team behind it.
This isn't a "marketing manager" role - it's a builder role. We've been growing scrappily so far. We want someone who turns it into a machine.
What you'll do
Paid acquisition Own Manie's paid playbook - Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, partnerships, TV. Define channel mix, budget, creative testing cadence, and ROI thresholds.
Organic, SEO & GEO Lead the organic strategy that compounds while we sleep. SEO, content, community, and GEO - yes, real Generative Engine Optimisation (we've already started with Profound). Move Manie's positioning inside Perplexity, Claude, and ChatGPT answers, not just in Google's blue links.
Virality & referral Design the referral mechanics, viral loops, and network effects that drop blended CAC over time. Most growth leads claim this; few actually shipped one that worked. We want someone who's done it.
Brand & PR Build on the momentum we have in SIC, Expresso, ECO, TSF, Portal da Queixa, Contas Poupança. Influencer programmes, creators, podcasts, events - choose where Manie shows up.
Lifecycle & retention Own email strategy and the post-acquisition story - from invoice upload to first Switch, from Switch to AutoSwitch upgrade, from Basic to Boost to Unlimited. Acquisition is half the job; the other half is making sure the cohorts you bring in stay and expand.
Multi-market expansion Build the playbook for Spain (2027) and UK (2028) - channels, creative, attribution, payback. Each market has its own CPC, CAC, regulator, and customer journey. You'll work hand-in-hand with our country leads to make each launch repeatable.
Multi-vertical expansion Energy unit economics aren't telco unit economics aren't insurance unit economics. As we add verticals, you'll redesign the funnel and the messaging for each one - without losing focus on the core.
Data & measurement Live in BigQuery, GA4, Customer.io, and Pipedrive. Funnels, cohorts, attribution, LTV/CAC, payback periods are how you think, not how you report. You'll defend every number in our model and own the dashboards the rest of the company runs on.
Team & leadership Hire, structure, and lead the growth team. Today it's small - one acquisition lead, one content creator, the founders. In 18 months it should be a 4–6 person team you've built.
Who you are-
You have experience scaling a B2C product. Bonus if it was a financial product (insurance, banking, energy, lending) or a subscription-on-top-of-transaction model. We care about what you've shipped, not your title.

You've personally run both paid and organic - you've written ad briefs, optimised landing pages, run SEO sprints, designed referral mechanics. You don't outsource thinking.

You're analytical to the cell level. SQL, BigQuery, attribution debates - you're at home in dashboards, not just at the top of them.

You already know a thing or two about GEO.

You think in viral mechanics and network effects. You know the difference between incentivised virality and true network effects, and have an opinion on which Manie should pursue.

You're fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. Portuguese to live the product, English to work with our investors and suppliers, Spanish to brief the ES launch team.

You enjoy building from scratch - creating, testing, failing fast, learning, doing it again on Monday.
