We're looking for a Junior Java Developer to join our team in Lisbon, Portugal in a hybrid working mode. You will work within the Client & Market team to develop and optimize backend solutions for omni-channel retail platforms, supporting luxury Maisons across e-commerce environments. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with scalable microservices and modern architectures while contributing to seamless digital and physical customer journeys.
Responsibilities

Analyze business and technical requirements to support backend solution design for omni-retail processes
- Develop, test and debug Java-based microservices under senior engineers’ guidance, ensuring maintainability and reliability
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and integration issues with mentorship support
- Collaborate with the Support team to investigate incidents related to omni-retail and order management
- Work with DevOps teams to understand CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
- Write clean, maintainable code and actively participate in code reviews to enhance technical quality
Requirements

1–2 years of Java development experience or strong academic foundation with demonstrable projects
- Familiarity with Spring Boot and Spring ecosystem (e.g., Spring Data JPA, Hibernate); hands-on exposure is a plus
- Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and web communication concepts (HTTP, JSON)
- Exposure to or interest in microservices architecture and event-driven systems
- Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL; exposure to NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) is desirable
- Basic knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git
- Interest in learning tools like Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines
- Good communication skills, strong collaboration mindset
- Fluent in English, written and spoken
