Job Summary
As Global Head of Digital Acceleration & AI Strategy (at the Digital Center of Excellence), you will lead the orchestration of digital and AI-driven transformation initiatives across the EDP Group. In close collaboration with DGU Business Platforms, Digital Acceleration teams, and global business units, you will (1) drive the evolution of the Digital Chapter, fostering agile and high-performing teams, (2) define and implement a global digital and AI strategy aligned with EDP’s business goals, (3) lead the governance and execution of EDP’s most strategic AI initiatives and programs (AI Big Bets), (4) oversee the delivery of innovative solutions via the Global Digital Factory, and (5) develop key strategic partnerships with leading technology and AI players.
This executive leadership role requires a global mindset, cross-functional influence, and a strong strategic vision to accelerate transformation and sustainable innovation across the group.
Key Responsibilities
Digital & AI Strategy Leadership
- Define and lead the execution of EDP’s global digital and AI strategy, in close alignment with business leadership across geographies and sectors.
- Act as Sponsor and Program Lead for the AI Strategy Acceleration Program, managing the portfolio of AI Big Bets with high business impact and global visibility.
- Elaborate and Present strategic insights, progress reports, and investment recommendations to executive committees, influencing key decisions on digital and AI transformation.
- Conduct strategic foresight, competitive intelligence, and technology benchmarking to shape EDP’s digital and AI innovation pipeline. Governance and Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead the Digital Chapter, driving the adoption of agile, collaborative, and data-driven ways of working across DGU and EDP business units.
- Build a strong network of Digital Accelerators and AI champions to promote alignment, talent development, and cultural transformation.
- Ensure the governance and prioritization of digital and AI initiatives through structured processes, KPIs, and value-based decision frameworks.
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with hyperscalers and AI leaders (e.g., Microsoft, AWS, Google, OpenAI) to accelerate innovation. AI Transformation and Global Program Management
- Global coordination of the AI Big Bets portfolio, from opportunity discovery to industrialization, ensuring clear business value, scalability, and ethical alignment.
- Collaborate with domain experts and business teams via digital acceleration chapter to define, develop, and scale AI-powered solutions in areas such as asset optimization, predictive maintenance, customer experience, grid intelligence, and sustainability.
- Engage senior stakeholders and Management Teams to ensure strategic sponsorship and cross-functional alignment on AI programs. Global Digital Factory & Portfolio Oversight
- Oversee the Global Digital Factory’s portfolio of solutions, ensuring prioritization, value delivery, and global scalability.
- Drive efficient allocation of digital and AI resources, fostering synergies across business lines and minimizing duplication.
- Facilitate co-creation and innovation through design thinking sessions, pilots, and agile implementation models.
Academic Degree
University Degree and Graduate Degree (includes Masters or other graduate level degrees); Includes Associate, Bachelor, or other undergraduate degrees
Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Data Science, Business Administration, or related field (MBA or PhD is a strong plus)
Professional Experience
Extensive experience in leading global digital and AI transformation programs within complex organizations, preferably in the energy or infrastructure sectors.
Proven leadership in managing multi-million euro portfolios, cross-functional teams, and strategic vendor relationships.
Experience in top-tier management consulting or digital innovation environments is highly desirable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Data Science, or a related field (MBA or PhD preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in digital strategy, AI transformation, or technology-driven innovation.
- Deep knowledge of AI technologies, ecosystems, and governance models.
- Strong leadership and influencing capabilities at the executive level.
- International experience and track record of managing global teams and programs. Skills and Competencies
