You will join a globally distributed Equity Derivatives team responsible for developing and maintaining a smart derivatives platform. This established solution hosts pre-trade and post-trade applications used by clients across equity and structured-product operations.
Working closely with development teams in Lisbon and Paris, you will contribute to application development, technical analysis, testing, code reviews, releases, production maintenance, and third-level support.
The platform relies primarily on Java 21+, Spring, relational databases, SQL, messaging technologies, Maven, Git, and CI/CD. Angular and jQuery are used on the frontend, although frontend experience is not mandatory.

Develop, enhance, and maintain business-critical Java applications.
- Build backend components using Java 21+ and the Spring Framework.
- Ensure high standards of software quality, security, reliability, and performance.
- Analyse business and technical requirements.
- Participate throughout the complete Agile software development lifecycle.
- Produce and maintain relevant technical documentation.
- Create and execute application tests.
- Participate in peer reviews and maintain clean, reliable code.
- Work with relational databases and develop SQL queries.
- Develop or integrate asynchronous messaging solutions.
- Support application releases and component maintenance.
- Collaborate with production support teams.
- Provide L3 application support when required.
- Investigate defects and production incidents in complex codebases.
- Communicate directly with business users to understand their requirements.
- Collaborate with globally distributed technology and business teams.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or at least three years of relevant professional experience.
- Professional experience in Java development.
- Hands-on knowledge of Java 21 or higher.
- Practical experience with the Spring Framework.
- Experience with relational database management systems and SQL.
- Understanding of software requirements and application testing.
- Ability to navigate, understand, and enhance mature or complex codebases.
- Experience working with Agile development methodologies.
- Good understanding of the software development lifecycle.
- Experience collaborating effectively within development teams.
- Fluent English at C1 level.
- Availability to work from Lisbon according to the project’s working model.

You enjoy understanding both the technical and business aspects of an application, collaborating with international colleagues, and taking responsibility for the quality, security, and performance of the solutions you develop. Experience with asynchronous messaging, frontend technologies, or investment banking platforms will be particularly valuable.
