We are looking for a Senior Java Technical Consultant to join a strategic enterprise healthcare project based in Lisbon.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Java professional who wants to expand beyond software development and take on greater responsibilities in solution architecture, enterprise integration, technical design, and engineering best practices.
You will collaborate with architecture, development, infrastructure, business, and customer teams to design secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions. The role offers a clear path toward architecture and technical leadership responsibilities while remaining connected to hands-on engineering.
Solution Architecture and Technical Design

Support the architecture team in designing and evolving enterprise healthcare solutions.

Contribute to technical analysis, solution design, and architectural decision-making.

Help define scalable, secure, maintainable, and resilient solutions.

Translate business and technical requirements into effective solution designs.

Assess technical risks, dependencies, integration requirements, and implementation options.

Contribute to architecture documentation and technical standards.
Java Engineering

Design and develop enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot.

Promote clean code, maintainability, testability, and software-engineering best practices.

Support development teams with technical guidance and solution validation.

Contribute to code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Help ensure consistency between architectural decisions and implementation.
Systems Integration

Design and implement integrations using REST APIs, SOAP services, messaging technologies, and other integration mechanisms.

Work with distributed systems and enterprise integration scenarios.

Support API design, service communication, data exchange, and integration troubleshooting.

Contribute to reliable and secure communication between applications and platforms.

Apply or develop knowledge of Enterprise Integration Patterns.
Frontend Collaboration

Contribute to React development when required.

Collaborate with frontend teams on application structure and integration with backend services.

Apply an understanding of frontend architecture principles to end-to-end solution design.
DevOps and Delivery

Support CI/CD initiatives and deployment automation.

Work with Jenkins or equivalent pipeline technologies.

Support applications running in Linux environments.

Work with Docker containers and Kubernetes-based platforms.

Collaborate with infrastructure and operations teams to improve deployment reliability.

Support application servers such as Tomcat and JBoss.
Stakeholder Collaboration

Work closely with technical and business stakeholders.

Ensure alignment between requirements, proposed architectures, and delivered solutions.

At least 5 years of professional experience with Java and Spring Boot.

Strong hands-on experience developing enterprise Java applications.

Solid experience with system integration, including REST, SOAP, messaging, and APIs.

Experience with distributed systems or distributed architectures.

Professional experience with React and an understanding of frontend architecture principles.

Experience creating or maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

Hands-on experience with Linux environments.

Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
