Memories might fade away but art stays forever - That's the philosophy of Nico Trinkhaus, the photographer behind Sumfinity. His mission is to unite Europe through his lens.
Together with his 2nd company PhotoClaim, he is also fighting for the rights of photographers.
Nico Trinkhaus and other photographers suffer countless infringements on their copyright. In 2023, we started an experiment: using the European Small Claims Procedure to combat unauthorized use efficiently - without needing a local attorney in every single EU country.
The experiment worked. Now we're scaling it, and we're looking for another lawyer with a passion for copyright to grow the team.
What you will do:
You lead resolution of copyright disputes in courts all over the European Union
You coordinate the initiation of court action when a commercial copyright infringement could not be resolved amicably
You manage all notices received from the court and act on them in a timely manner
You develop and establish litigation strategies utilizing the EU Small Claims procedure
You evaluate and improve the success of applied strategies in individual countries
You research the varying national differences in copyright law and develop our templates to lead to better litigation success in each EU country
What you bring:
A law degree and hands-on litigation experience
Admission to the bar in at least one EU member state
A genuine interest in photography and the wish to help artists
Love of learning and developing your skillset
You have excellent command of the English language; you communicate clearly to the point
We’re offering:
Remote work with flexible working hours from anywhere in Europe
Meaningful work in an international environment
Direct collaboration with the founder – no layers & fast decisions
A team of highly motivated collaborators
The chance to shape litigation strategy for an entire continent in a model that almost no legal team is using to date
Attention – DO NOT APPLY IF:
You are a last-minute person
You are looking for a classic law-firm career
You insist on your own workflows without consulting the team
You are uncomfortable with digital and asynchronous workflows
You are more worried about the threat of AI than the benefits it may bring
You are looking for an employment structure with benefits rather than working on your own authority
Sounds interesting?
Then send your cover letter and résumé as well as details of your availability and compensation expectations (monthly fee excl. VAT) to: [email protected]
Important: Please answer the question “Which tools do you use to organize your work processes?” in the cover letter. Please also tell us the jurisdiction(s) in which you are admitted to the bar.
P.S. You may use AI throughout the application process if you deem it helpful. If you do, you must disclose the tools and prompts you have used.
You’re used to working independently and on your own authority
You’re reliable, have an analytical mindset and high standards to your own work
