We are looking for a Payroll Operations Manager, reporting directly to the Head of Corporate HR, to be based in Portugal or another European country.
Logoplaste
Present in 17 countries, Logoplaste is a global value-added service provider and producer of rigid plastic packaging for well-known fast moving consumer goods companies in the food and beverage, cosmetics, personal care and household industries. We are experts in manufacturing sustainable plastic packaging through embedded, just-in-time supply chains. Our Wall to Wall business model eliminates the need for secondary packaging and the logistics associated with transporting empty bottles. We've been reducing CO2 emissions since 1976. Logoplaste goes beyond expectations turning rigid plastic packaging’s impact on the planet into a net positive for the environment and business.
Who we are & What we do
The Corporate HR team is shaping the future of Logoplaste by building the global foundations that enable scalable growth. Through HR systems integration, process standardization, and Compensation & Benefits harmonization, we create the consistency, transparency, and insights needed to support better business decisions across all geographies.
Job Summary
Turn data into a real-time decision engine for the business. This role builds Logoplaste's first-ever centralized payroll and employee self service function from the ground up and leads the transformation of fragmented payroll systems globally with one, and rolling out modern T&A infrastructure across every country in scope. It's a hands-on build-and-launch role, working in close partnership with country HR teams who currently own payroll and T&A today. The role of Payroll Operations Manager reports directly to the Head of Corporate HR and works closely with the country HR teams and the regional VPs of HR
Key tasks & Activities...
Team & Organization Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with country HR colleagues who currently own payroll/T&A, by influencing and coordinating without formal authority over them
- Build trust and alignment with country HR teams who are being asked to change how they work, without the leverage of a direct reporting relationship
- Define and drive the shared wave plan, migration sequencing, and rollout standards that local HR teams commit to following
- Establish frequent meetings with local HR to track progress, resolve issues, and maintain accountability
- Act as the technical/operational point of accountability for payroll and T&A delivery.
Vendor & Provider Management
- Own the relationship with the centralized/outsourced payroll provider (to be selected)
- Own the relationship with the selected T&A provider(s) (to be selected)
- Negotiate and enforce SLAs across providers, holding them accountable for accuracy, timeliness, and rollout delivery
- Manage day-to-day escalations with providers
Migration & Rollout (Waves)
- Lead the country/plant-by-plant rollout of local time & attendance system (excel, software, etc), to time clocks and SAP SF Time Sheet, aligned to the wave plan
- Lead the country-by-country migration from local payroll providers into the centralized model, aligned to the wave plan
- Own parallel-run governance for both workstreams (legacy vs. new) before cutover
- Sign off on go-live/cutover readiness per country, for both payroll and T&A
Governance, Compliance & Systems
- Own T&A governance: terminal rollout compliance, works council/union consultation coordination per country, data privacy (biometric/GDPR) compliance
- Own payroll governance: controls, error/exception handling, audit readiness
- Ensure statutory compliance oversight across all countries in scope, for both payroll and time & attendance
- Ensure SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central and Time Sheet data flows correctly across both systems, partnering closely with IT and vendors/consultants
Reporting, Analytics & Finance Partnership
- Own the reporting and analytics deliverables that are the whole point of this transformation: cost per employee, overtime, absence-linked cost, time worked, FTEs, GL/cost-center mapping
- Ensure the combined payroll and T&A model produces labour-cost and time data that managers and executives can easily access and use to support business decisions
- Coordinate with Finance on payroll-to-GL reconciliation and cost allocation accuracy
Who we are looking for…
- Proven experience leading a payroll centralization or payroll hub build specifically within Europe
- Hands-on payroll experience across at least 2–3 countries
- SAP payroll experience strongly preferred, ideally with exposure to a centralization/migration project (SAP SF Employee Central Payroll or equivalent)
- Experience managing a time & attendance system implementation or rollout is a strong plus
- Experience leading multi-country payroll/T&A transformations through influence and cross-functional collaboration, not only through direct people management (important requirement, as this position has no formal authority over the local HR team during the project)
- Vendor/BPO management experience across multiple providers simultaneously
- Strong analytical orientation (focus on the end game: data)
- Fluent English; additional European languages a plus
Interpersonal Skills:
- Influencing without authority
- Communication & Simplification
- Program Management
- Change Leadership / Managing Ambiguity
- Analytical & Data-Driven Judgment
- Governance & Compliance Mindset
- Resilience Under Pressure
- Ownership & Accountability
