We are looking for a Data Governance professional with Data Engineering experience to join our team. The successful candidate will work with Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Fabric and Databricks to design, implement and maintain data governance, data management and data engineering solutions. This role will contribute to improving data quality, discoverability, security, compliance and usability across the organisation.
Design and implement data governance frameworks, policies, standards and operating models.
Configure and manage Microsoft Purview for data discovery, cataloguing, classification, lineage and governance.
Develop and maintain data products, pipelines and engineering solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Databricks.
Implement data lineage and metadata management processes across cloud and on-premises data sources.
Define and maintain business glossaries, data dictionaries, critical data elements and ownership models.
Collaborate with data owners, data stewards, architects, engineers, security teams and business stakeholders.
Establish data quality rules, monitoring processes and remediation workflows.
Support the implementation of data access, privacy, security and compliance controls.
Design and optimise data pipelines using SQL, Python, PySpark and Databricks workflows.
Work with Microsoft Fabric components.
Promote best practices for data lifecycle management, retention, classification and responsible data usage.
Produce technical documentation, governance guidelines and operational procedures.
Data Governance & Microsoft Technologies
Microsoft Fabric and its data engineering and analytics capabilities.
Experience with Databricks, including Lakehouse architecture, notebooks, workflows and Delta Lake.
Professional experience in data governance, data management, data engineering or a related field.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview, including data cataloguing, scanning, classification, glossary management and lineage.
Practical experience with Microsoft
Good understanding of data governance principles, metadata management, data ownership and data stewardship.
Knowledge of data quality frameworks, profiling, validation and monitoring processes.
Understanding of data security, access management, privacy and regulatory compliance requirements.
Data Engineering Experience
Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational and cloud data platforms.
Experience developing data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
Programming experience with Python and/or PySpark.
Understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, data lakes and Lakehouse architectures.
Experience working with Azure data services and cloud-based data platforms.
Familiarity with CI/CD, version control and deployment practices for data solutions.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Microsoft certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate, Azure Data Engineer Associate or related certifications.
Experience implementing data governance operating models in large or complex organisations.
Knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM or other recognised data management frameworks.
Experience with Power BI governance, semantic models and enterprise reporting environments.
Knowledge of data privacy and regulatory frameworks such as GDPR.
Experience with data mesh, data products or domain-oriented data ownership models.
