We are looking for an Insurance Accountant
CONTEXT
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and compliance of insurance accounting data under both French GAAP and IFRS standards, with a strong focus on IFRS 17. Working closely with Actuarial, Reporting, Internal Control, and Finance teams, you will support financial closings, accounting analysis, process improvements, and regulatory compliance.

MAIN MISSION
To ensure the reliability, accuracy, and regulatory compliance of insurance accounting data by supporting financial closing activities, analysing accounting information, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in accordance with French GAAP and IFRS standards, particularly IFRS 17.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support quarterly and annual financial closings under French GAAP and IFRS 17.
- Perform accounting for daily insurance operations, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Analyse balance sheet and profit & loss accounts, identifying risks and reporting findings to management.
- Participate in analytical reviews and financial control activities.
- Prepare and maintain audit trail documentation and accounting support files.
- Collaborate with Actuarial, Reporting, Internal Control, Audit, and other Finance teams.
- Prepare accounting procedures and contribute to process standardisation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure timely account reconciliations and support regulatory reporting requirements.
- Monitor accounting quality and contribute to the implementation of best practices.
- Support knowledge sharing and provide guidance to colleagues when required.
PROFILE & SKILLS
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science, Audit, or a related field.
- 10+ years of professional experience in Insurance Accounting or a similar Finance role.
- Previous experience within an insurance company is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS 17.
- Good understanding of French GAAP.
- Solid knowledge of General Accounting principles.
- Understanding of Life and Non-Life insurance products.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multiple stakeholders.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a proactive approach.
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues is considered an advantage.
- Fluent in Portuguese and English.
- Basic knowledge of French is a plus.
