Build a brilliant future with Hiscox
The Hiscox Technology function at a glance
The collective goal of Hiscox’s Technology function is drive competitive advantage through the use of tech. We design, build, and maintain top-tier, innovation solutions that are sustainable, resilient and inclusive. We do this by understanding the current and future needs of our customers to create market-leading propositions, as well as ensuring every department in the business is fully tech-enabled. Our tech function is full of talented and motivated individuals, and it’s a key part of our strategy to develop and grow our people through the organisation.
Our Transformation Journey
The organisation is currently undergoing a significant transformation as a core pillar of the Hiscox 2030 strategy, designed to make the organisation scalable, efficient, and increasingly customer-centric by modernising operations and embedding a “One Hiscox” mindset. It underpins the broader growth ambitions and is delivered through multiple strategic initiatives.
The Technology Transformation enables 70% of these initiatives and contributes over half of the programme’s projected benefits. Led by the Technology Transformation Office, it enables digital trading, augmented underwriting, unified data ecosystems, and automation—unlocking speed, intelligence, and cost savings while reshaping how Hiscox works and grows.
Role Purpose
As a Senior UX Designer, you will own experience outcomes within a defined product or journey domain, leading discovery and design from problem framing through to delivery across customer, broker, and employee experiences.
You will balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution, shaping solutions that are usable, accessible, scalable, and commercially effective. You will influence product and technology decisions within your domain while contributing to shared UX standards and experience.

-
Define experience direction within your domain, contributing to north‑star journeys and experience principles.
-
Translate insight into clear design solutions that balance user needs, technical constraints, and business priorities.
Collaboration & Delivery
-
Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Architecture, and Data teams to shape and validate solutions.
-
Facilitate design workshops, design reviews, and alignment sessions with stakeholders.
-
Contribute to design system evolution, promoting consistency, reuse, and quality at scale.
Quality, Accessibility & Measurement
-
Champion inclusive and accessible design practices, reducing experience risk and ensuring compliance with accessibility standards.
-
Measure and iterate on experience outcomes (e.g. task success, error reduction, satisfaction proxies).
Skills & Experience
-
Proven experience leading UX design across complex products, services, or platforms.
-
Strong interaction design, information architecture, and prototyping skills.
-
Experience contributing to and working with design systems.
-
Excellent communication and influencing skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
-
A portfolio demonstrating clear UX impact and outcomes.
-
Experience in regulated environments (e.g. insurance or financial services) is advantageous.
Diversity & Benefits
At Hiscox we care about our people. We hire the best people for the job and we’re committed to diversity and creating a truly inclusive culture, which we believe drives success.
Working life doesn’t always have to be in the office, so we have introduced hybrid working to encourage a healthy work life balance. This hybrid working model is set by the team rather than the business to enable you to manage your own personal work-life balance.
We see it as the best of both worlds; structure and sociability on one hand, and independence and flexibility on the other.
Our benefits package includes a bonus, contributory pension, 25 days annual leave plus 2 Hiscox days and a 4 week paid sabbatical with every 5 years’ worth of service, private medical for all the family and much more.
Work with amazing people and be part of a unique culture
