Job Summary
A Category Manager within a sales function is responsible for driving the commercial performance and strategic development of a specific product category. This role involves analyzing market trends, customer behaviour, and sales data to identify growth opportunities, optimize product assortment, and maximize revenue and profitability.
Sales & Business Development
· Identify and target potential clients, including fashion brands, retailers, manufacturers, and wholesalers
· Generate new business through networking, cold calling, and trade show participation.
· Develop and execute strategic sales plans to meet revenue targets.
· Manage and expand the client portfolio in domestic and international markets.
Customer Relationship Management
· Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers, designers, and procurement teams.
· Understand client needs for fabric types, colors, textures, and custom requirements.
· Provide tailored solutions and recommendations based on customer preferences.
· Ensure excellent customer service, resolving any issues or concerns.
Product Knowledge & Consultation
· Stay updated on textile industry trends, fabric innovations, and sustainable materials.
· Educate clients on product benefits, durability, applications, and care instructions.
· Conduct fabric presentations and provide samples to potential buyers.
Negotiation & Order Management
· Negotiate pricing, order quantities, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
· Prepare sales contracts and ensure compliance with company policies.
· Work closely with production and logistics teams to ensure timely order fulfilment.
Market & Competitor Analysis
· Research market trends, customer demands, and emerging textile technologies.
· Monitor competitor activities, pricing, and product offerings.
· Provide insights to management for strategic decision-making.
Collaboration & Reporting
· Work closely with the design and production teams to develop market-relevant products.
· Coordinate with marketing for promotions, trade fairs, and online sales initiatives.
· Maintain accurate sales records and prepare reports on performance metrics.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field
- Proven experience in category management, sales, or commercial roles
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, BI platforms)
- Solid understanding of pricing, merchandising, and promotional strategies
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Commercial mindset with a results-driven approach
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in B2B textile industry
- Familiarity with category management tools and methodologies
- Advanced analytical or financial modelling skills
