Role Summary
We're hiring a Café Server to handle guest service, cashiering, cleaning, and daily café operations at our Oeiras location, with the opportunity to cross-train into espresso and barista skills once you're settled into the role. No prior barista experience required. We'll train the right person on coffee. We can't train attitude, reliability, or hospitality instinct, so that's what we're hiring for first.
This role suits someone who takes pride in a clean, well-run space, enjoys working with people, and wants to grow their skill set in a structured, team-player and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Service & Front of House Greet and serve guests with a warm, professional manner Operate the till/POS, handle cash and card transactions accurately Take and fulfill orders for food, drinks, and pastries Offer personalized service, anticipate guest needs
Café Operations & Cleanliness Open and close the café following checklists and procedures Maintain a clean, organized space throughout the shift (counters, tables, guest areas, coffee station) Restock consumables (cups, napkins, milk, pastries, etc.) Support smooth service flow during busy periods
Cross-Training Into Barista Skills Learn espresso prep, milk steaming, and drink standards through on-the-job training Progress toward independently running the coffee bar within an agreed timeframe Opportunity to grow into Lead Barista / Shift Supervisor
Required Qualifications
Citizenship: NATO member state (mandatory, see above)
Education: High school graduate or equivalent
Experience: Minimum 1 year in café, restaurant, retail, or guest-facing service
Languages: Working proficiency in English required, Portuguese helpful but not required
Availability: Weekdays, with occasional weekends/holidays as business needs require Attitude: Reliable, punctual, positive, eager to learn
Preferred
Hospitality school students or graduates encouraged to apply Experience with POS/cash handling Any prior barista exposure is a plus, not a requirement
Mandatory Legal Requirements
Valid Certificado do Registo Criminal (Portuguese Ministry of Justice, issued within last 12 months) Legal work authorization for Portugal
