About EUROMAR
EUROMAR is the exclusive commercial and service partner of MAR, the Madeira Ship Registry: an EU, onshore and whitelisted flag (Paris and Tokyo MoU). We sit between shipowners, ship managers, and the Portuguese authorities as a trusted partner, pairing the advantages of an EU flag with a straightforward, digital registration process and 24/7 maritime support.
We are now growing a small team to shape how we work at EUROMAR going forward.
The role
Right now, our use of AI is mostly ad hoc: ChatGPT and Claude in the browser, and a few home-made tools. Your job is to change that so that every team at EUROMAR can use AI well, safely, and with a clear business purpose. You report to the CDO and start on your own, with the option to build a small team as the work grows.
What you’ll do
- Set out an AI vision and a realistic roadmap, and tie both to what the business actually needs.
- Get every department using AI safely on its own, with training built around real tasks, clear standards, and a few champions to lean on.
- Put sensible guardrails in place (data protection, sensitive data, traceable outputs) and keep us free to switch tools and models.
- Pick the use cases worth doing and see them through, for example, document and contract checks in the registration process, or getting our data silos to talk to each other.
- Manage vendors, keep stakeholders on board, and monitor the market.
What you bring
- You have designed an AI strategy and, just as importantly, rolled one out.
- Several years of experience in transformation work, ideally with a strong enablement and change focus.
- A solid, business-level grasp of what AI and ML can and cannot do. You don’t have to be coding.
- You can explain AI to a board member and to a first-time user, and bring people with you.
- Fluent English; Portuguese or German helps.
Nice to have
- Background in a regulated, maritime or B2B service setting.
- A working knowledge of data protection and AI ethics.
What we offer
- A real say in how EUROMAR goes digital
- A small, international team and short decision paths
- Flexible / hybrid working
- A budget for learning and development
